Review of Manlio Santanelli’s Regina Madre

Fa sempre piacere ricordare ai nostri lettori che il teatro italiano è vivo e vibrante. Rinato dopo la fine della guerra, negli anni Quaranta. Abbiamo visto a New York decine di letture drammatiche, recite, pubblicazioni. Autori che erano qui sconosciuti. Per citarne alcuni: Nicolaj, Balducci, Fontanelli, Moretti, Celenza, Parodi, Boggio, Lunari, Cascini. Ora, grazie all solerte produttrice-traduttrice-regista Jane House abbiamo scoperto un eccellente drama di Manlio Santanelli. Regina Madre offre un drammatico conflitto tra una madre severa e critica (Judith Roberts) e un figlio debole e confuse (John Fitzgibbon). Brava Jane. Il tuo amore per il teatro Italiano è lodevole.
